How can sinners be made righteous before God?

Answered in 1 source

Sinners are made righteous through the imputation of Christ's righteousness to them.

The Bible teaches that believers are made the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21). This occurs through the act of imputation, where our sins are placed upon Christ during His crucifixion, and His perfect righteousness is credited to us. As a result, when God looks at the believer, He does not see their sin but sees the perfect righteousness of His Son. This transformation is not based on the believer’s works but solely on God's grace and the redemptive work of Christ. Thus, we can approach God with confidence, knowing we stand perfect in Him.
