How can suffering lead us to a greater understanding of God?

Answered in 1 source

Suffering often leads us to depend more on God, deepening our reliance and understanding of His grace and sovereignty.

Suffering serves a profound purpose in the life of a believer, often leading us to rely more fully on God's grace and sovereignty. When we encounter trials, as the woman did with her prolonged affliction, we are reminded of our weaknesses and the limitations of human help. This can direct our focus to God, prompting us to seek Him sincerely. Romans 5:3-5 notes that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Thus, our suffering can ultimately lead to a richer understanding of God's faithfulness and deeper trust in His plan.
