How can we be assured of receiving the Holy Spirit?

Answered in 1 source

All who repent and believe in Jesus as Lord receive the Holy Spirit as a promise from God.

In Acts 2:38, Peter assures the believers that upon repentance and belief in Jesus, they will receive the Holy Spirit. This gift is a promise from God to all who believe, emphasizing that the Holy Spirit is integral to the believer's life. The presence of the Holy Spirit is a mark of adoption into God's family, as mentioned in Romans 8:15, enabling believers to call God 'Abba, Father.' The Holy Spirit equip us with love for Christ, guides us in truth, and empowers us for service. Therefore, the assurance of receiving the Holy Spirit rests upon our genuine faith and repentance toward Christ.
