How can we be cleansed from our sins according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

We are cleansed from our sins through faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice, which is illustrated by the metaphor of being washed clean.

The Bible teaches that cleansing from sin comes exclusively through faith in Jesus Christ and His atoning work on the cross. Just as Naaman was instructed to wash in the Jordan River to be healed from his leprosy, we are called to come to Christ, recognizing that our own works cannot earn salvation. Ephesians 1:7 states that we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. This cleansing is total; as indicated in Isaiah 1:18, though our sins be as scarlet, they shall be made white as snow. The message of the Gospel is that Jesus took upon Himself the sins of many, providing a means for every sinner to be washed clean through His precious sacrifice.
