How can we be sure we are among God's elect?

The doctrine of election assures believers that God has chosen them before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). However, the evidence of being among God's elect is manifested through faith in Christ. As stated in 1 John 5:1, 'Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God.' This shows that belief in Jesus is the result and confirmation of one's election. Thus, if a person comes to faith in Jesus and trusts Him for salvation, it is the assurance they need that they are part of God's chosen people.
