How can we cultivate humility?

Answered in 1 source

Cultivating humility involves recognizing our dependence on God and seeking His grace to overcome pride.

Humility is a grace that is given by God, and it is cultivated through our relationship with Him. James 4:6 states, 'God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.' To be clothed with humility, as Peter instructs, we must first acknowledge our own limitations and our need for God's help. This might involve prayerful submission to God's will, active service to others, and an approach that values the interests and needs of fellow believers above our own. As we practice these attitudes, the Holy Spirit works in us to deepen our humility.
