How can we discern if God's Spirit is present in our worship?

Answered in 1 source

We discern God's Spirit in our worship by observing whether Christ is glorified and the truth is upheld.

To determine if God's Spirit is genuinely present in our worship, we must evaluate whether Christ is given the preeminence and glory He deserves. John 16:14 states that the Spirit will glorify Christ, so if the message or worship experience shifts the focus away from Jesus and onto man, it signals a lack of the Holy Spirit's presence. Additionally, 1 John 4:1-3 urges believers to test the spirits and ensure that the proclamation aligns with the truth of who Christ is. If a gathering exalts human effort or decision-making over Christ’s redemptive work, then it is not of God. The true work of the Spirit will lead to deep convictions of sin, righteousness, and ultimately, Christ's glorious role in salvation.
