How can we fight pride in our spiritual lives?

Answered in 1 source

We combat pride by recognizing our sinful nature and relying on God’s grace rather than our own works.

Pride can be subdued through a proper understanding of our helpless state before God. Romans 3 reveals that 'none seeks after God' and reminds us of our dependency on divine revelation to know our need for Him. As we recognize our sinfulness and the grace available in Christ, we are more inclined to humility. Parsing through our pride, by praying for God’s mercy as His chosen, reinforces our perspective: any good within us is attributed to His work, not our merits. Engaging regularly with Scripture helps to maintain this humility, reminding us that we have no ground for boasting except in the finished work of Jesus.
