How can we find joy in the midst of sorrow over sin?

Answered in 1 source

True joy is found in the recognition of God's grace, which offers us salvation despite our sins.

While the law brings sorrow by revealing our sins, the gospel offers immense joy by proclaiming that Jesus Christ saves us from the penalty of those sins (Nehemiah 8:10). The message delivered through Ezra brought the people from mourning to rejoicing by pointing them to God's provision for salvation. The joy of the Lord becomes our strength as we rest in the finished work of Christ, knowing that we are forgiven and accepted in Him. This transition from sorrow to joy reminds us that our hope lies not in our ability to obey the law, but in God's grace through Christ.
