How can we identify a false gospel?

Answered in 1 source

A false gospel deviates from the teachings of Scripture and emphasizes works over grace.

Identifying a false gospel involves examining its alignment with Scripture and the core message of Christ’s redemptive work. Many seemingly successful movements or churches proclaim a gospel that promotes works, self-righteousness, or a general message that makes man the center rather than Christ. Paul warns in Galatians 1:8-9 against any teaching that diverges from the grace of God and the redemptive work of Jesus. A true gospel leads sinners to recognize their need for grace and points them solely to Christ as the answer. The true gospel acknowledges our inability to save ourselves and highlights God’s sovereign grace in choosing and redeeming His people.
