How can we identify false gospels?

Answered in 1 source

False gospels can be identified by doctrines that introduce human works as necessary for salvation.

A false gospel is any teaching that adds human effort to the work of Christ for salvation. Paul warns the Galatian church that any doctrine suggesting that salvation is achieved through actions—such as observing laws or rituals—is contrary to the true gospel. The key sign of a false gospel is whether it requires a human work for salvation, which ultimately detracts from the grace of God. True salvation comes by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Believers must be vigilant and grounded in Scripture to recognize and resist these false teachings and to defend the true gospel’s message of freedom in Christ.
