How can we mortify the flesh according to Scripture?

Answered in 1 source

We mortify the flesh by relying on the Spirit’s power through faith in Christ's words and His completed work.

The process of mortifying the flesh, as described in Romans 8:13, involves putting to death the deeds of the body through the Spirit. Central to this is the believer's reliance on Christ's finished work and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. As believers continually feed on Christ's words, they gain strength to resist sin and grow in holiness. This is not achieved through human effort or willpower, but by nourishing the inner man with the truth of the Gospel, through which the believer is sanctified and enabled to live righteously. Thus, faith in Christ’s promises is fundamental to effectively mortifying the flesh.
