How can we pray effectively like Jacob did?

Answered in 1 source

We can pray effectively by acknowledging our dependence on God, claiming His promises, and being honest about our needs.

To pray effectively, as Jacob did, we must first come before God with sincerity and desperation, acknowledging Him as our only source of help. Jacob said, 'O God,' expressing his reliance on God. Furthermore, our prayers should be rooted in God's Word; we can claim His promises and plead them back to Him, just as Jacob reminded God of His covenant promises. Another crucial element is to approach with a heart aware of our unworthiness, trusting in God’s goodness rather than our own. Jacob's simple request for deliverance—'deliver me'—shows us that prayer need not be elaborate or filled with conditions. Instead, we should express our needs plainly and trust in God's timing and method for what we ask.
