How can we recognize a perverted gospel?

Answered in 1 source

A perverted gospel ignores the demands of the old cross and presents a message without the call to repentance or separation from sin.

The perverted gospel often replaces the core truths of Christianity with a message that is appealing and comfortable, ignoring the essential call to repentance and self-denial. Paul warns in Galatians 1:6-9 against any gospel that deviates from the true message he preached. A true gospel presents the cross as a symbol of death to our sins, leading to a radical transformation in the life of the believer. In contrast, the modern perverted gospel often claims that one can embrace Christ without forsaking their sins, thus diluting the transformative nature of true faith. If it lacks the offense of the cross and fails to call for a distinct life in Christ, it should be rejected.
