How can we rest from sin according to Scripture?

Answered in 1 source

We can rest from sin by understanding that Christ has already borne our sins and satisfied God's justice.

The scripture instructs believers to arm themselves with the knowledge that Christ has suffered for us and has been made to rest from sin (1 Peter 4:1). This understanding empowers believers to live no longer in the flesh to the lusts of men but to the will of God. By recognizing that Christ has taken away our sins and that we are identified with Him in His death and resurrection, we find our assurance and peace. Romans 8:1 affirms that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, proclaiming the freedom we have in Him and liberation from the burden of sin's penalty.
