How can we understand the gift of faith in salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Faith is a gift from God that enables us to believe in Him for salvation, making it not a work of our own but a divine blessing.

In the Christian faith, understanding that faith is a gift from God is crucial. It is not something we muster on our own but rather a grace bestowed upon us by the Holy Spirit. As seen in the story of the woman with the issue of blood, her faith was pivotal for her healing; however, that faith originated from God Himself. Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us, 'For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.' This emphasizes that human effort cannot achieve salvation; it is solely through God's grace that we are called and enabled to believe.
