How can we understand the motivation for obedience in light of Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Obedience in the Christian life is motivated by love for Christ and recognizing His sacrifice for us.

In Ephesians 4:32, we are urged to be kind and forgiving to one another, which is not only a command but a reflection of our relationship with Christ. Our obedience is motivated by recognizing that 'for Christ's sake,' we should act with love and mercy towards others. John 13:34 commands us to love one another as Christ has loved us, setting the precedent for how we should esteem and treat others. The motivation for our obedience flows from an understanding of who Christ is and what He has done, leading us to desire to please Him in our actions.
