How do grace and works relate to each other in salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Grace and works cannot mix in salvation; if works are included, it nullifies grace.

In Romans 11:6, the relationship between grace and works is made abundantly clear: 'And if by grace, then it is no more of works; otherwise grace is no more grace.' This establishes that if one tries to add works to the formula of salvation, they undermine the very nature of grace itself. Salvation must be understood as a free gift from God, where faith alone is the means through which grace is received. This truth is foundational to understanding sovereign grace theology.
