How do trials refine a believer's faith?

Answered in 1 source

Trials refine faith by purging pride and revealing the genuineness of one's trust in Christ.

1 Peter 1:6-7 explains that trials can actually be more precious than gold because they test and refine genuine faith. Just as gold is purified in fire, so too is true faith revealed and made stronger through trials. These experiences are not random but are designed by God for the believer's eternal good and His glory. They help to root out self-reliance and reveal the believer’s dependence on Christ. In Romans 8:28, we understand that all things, including trials, work together for good to those who love God, illustrating that these difficulties ultimately contribute to a deeper faith and maturity within the believer’s life.
