How do we deal with sin as Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

While we are called to avoid sin, we have an advocate in Christ who intercedes for us when we fail.

1 John 2:1 instructs us that while we should aim not to sin, if we do sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. This acknowledges the reality of our sinful nature and condition. John emphasizes that grace is not a license to excuse sin, but rather the motivation to strive for holiness. When we fall short, our confidence lies not in our ability to maintain sinlessness, but in our Advocate’s intercession. Our continual High Priest bears our names before the Father, ensuring our position is secure despite our failures.
