How do we ensure our worship is genuine and not based on emotions?

Answered in 1 source

Genuine worship is ensured when it is led by the Holy Spirit and grounded in truth from God’s Word.

To ensure that our worship is genuine and not merely emotional, it must be guided by the Holy Spirit and rooted in the truth of God's Word. Emotionalism can lead to superficial experiences that do not reflect true worship. As believers, we are called to worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24), which requires a heart transformed by the Holy Spirit to understand and respond to God's truth. When we focus our worship on the character of God and His redemptive work, as described in scripture, we can have confidence that our worship aligns with His desires.
