How do we handle grief according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that we should express our grief honestly and turn to God in worship.

Job's response to his immense sorrow serves as a profound example of how to handle grief. He did not hide his sorrow but openly expressed his pain by tearing his clothes and weeping (Job 1:20). This raw honesty about his feelings demonstrates that it is permissible for believers to grieve deeply. However, alongside his grief, Job worshiped God, showing that in our lowest moments, we can still turn to God in worship and prayer. In moments of despair, instead of hiding our struggles, we should seek God and find strength in worship, trusting in His sovereignty over our circumstances (Job 1:21).
