How do we know a happy old age is possible?

Answered in 1 source

A happy old age is rooted in a life of service, purity, and faith in Christ.

The assurance of a happy old age comes from living a life that is useful, loving, and Christ-centered. J. R. Miller indicates that one must live a life of self-denial and service to others, as true happiness arises from good deeds and connections with friends. By being kind and self-forgetful, we build a network of relationships that will sustain us in our later years. Additionally, a pure and holy life contributes to a joyful old age, as the state of one’s heart directly affects their perspective and enjoyment of life. Ultimately, according to Reformed theology, only through a relationship with Christ can one achieve lasting peace and fulfillment in both life and old age.
