How do we know a preacher is true or false?

Answered in 1 source

A true preacher points to Christ and Him crucified, whereas a false preacher will often distort the message to lead people away from the gospel.

To distinguish between true and false preachers, one must examine the focus of their message. A true preacher consistently points to Jesus Christ and His redemptive work, upholding the grace of God as the only means of salvation. In contrast, false preachers may introduce works, self-righteousness, or mixed messages that distract from the simplicity of the gospel. The Apostle Paul warns in Acts 20:29-30 that after his departure, grievous wolves will rise up among the believers, speaking perverse things to draw disciples after themselves. Therefore, it is essential for Christians to remain grounded in Scripture to identify and reject false teachings.
