How do we know angels are not to be worshiped?

Answered in 1 source

Angels are messengers and fellow servants of God, not to be worshiped as they serve the same Lord.

In Revelation 22:9, the angel emphasizes that he is a fellow servant, like John, and therefore not worthy of worship. Worship is due to God alone, as angels themselves are created beings meant to carry out God's messages. This teaching reiterates the biblical truth that only God is to be honored and praised. The angel’s response serves to clarify the distinction between the worship due to God and the honor shared among His servants, reminding believers of the severe importance of worship and the rightful object of that worship.
