How do we know avoiding genealogies is important in Christianity?

Answered in 1 source

Avoiding genealogies is vital as they can lead to pride and distract from the core message of Christ's saving grace.

In Titus 3:9, Paul mentions genealogies as a practice to avoid among believers. While understanding our lineage might be of personal interest, using genealogies as a basis for spiritual status is unproductive. For instance, the Pharisees prided themselves on their lineage, yet Paul later acknowledged that such heritage gains no merit before God. Instead, believers are to find their identity in Christ, where our spiritual lineage is rooted in grace, thereby uniting all Christians as one family under God rather than creating division or competition based on ancestry.
