How do we know believers are truly born again?

Answered in 1 source

Believers demonstrate their new birth through a life marked by faith in Christ, righteousness, and love for others (1 John 2:29, 1 John 3:14).

The marks of true regeneration in believers, as outlined in Scripture, fall under six categories: a hatred for sin, belief in Christ as the only Savior, a desire to practice righteousness, love for other Christians, overcoming the world, and keeping oneself pure. For example, 1 John 2:29 states that everyone who does righteousness is born of God, highlighting that true believers will live in accordance with God's will. Furthermore, 1 John 3:14 emphasizes the transformed relationships believers have, particularly their love for fellow Christians, which serves as a testament to their new spiritual life.
