How do we know believers go to heaven after they die?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible explicitly states that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:8 states confidently that when a believer dies, they are immediately present with the Lord. This passage affirms that upon the dissolution of our earthly bodies, there is no lapse or delay in entering heaven. Paul expresses his desire to depart and be with Christ, emphasizing the certainty and immediacy of the believer's transition from earthly life to heavenly glory. Furthermore, throughout Scripture, we read of Jesus and the apostles affirming that those who die in faith are welcomed into eternal paradise with God, securing the assurance of believers’ immediate entry into heaven.
