How do we know brotherly love is important for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

Brotherly love is crucial for Christians as it reflects our faith in Christ and our obedience to God's commands.

The significance of brotherly love in the life of the believer is profoundly rooted in our relationship with God. In 1 John 4:20-21, it states that if we claim to love God yet do not love our brothers, we are liars. Our love for God and love for brethren cannot be separated; they are intrinsically linked. Furthermore, being born of the Spirit means that love for one another should be a natural response. This love is a witness to the world of our relationship with Christ, demonstrating that we are truly His followers. Therefore, continuing in brotherly love is foundational to our faith and community.
