How do we know Christ is foreshadowed in David's story?

Answered in 1 source

David's life and actions foreshadow Christ's ultimate victory over sin and death.

David is often seen as a type of Christ, particularly in his role as a shepherd and a victorious king. When David confronted Goliath, he did so not just as a warrior, but as a representative of God’s people, trusting wholly in God's plan. This act of defeating the giant foreshadows Jesus' victory over sin and Satan, as both David and Christ faced seemingly insurmountable challenges. Hebrews 11 draws parallels between David and Jesus, highlighting that David's triumphs set the stage for the greater deliverance Christ achieved on the cross, where He defeated our ultimate opponents—sin, death, and the Devil.
