How do we know Christ is our comfort in suffering?

Answered in 1 source

Believers find comfort in Christ during suffering through the revelation of His presence and the assurance of His mercy.

The suffering of believers is spiritually distinct from worldly suffering, as they uniquely grieve the presence of sin while beholding the glory of Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:5 states that as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so does our consolation through Him. This means that when believers experience trials, they can lean upon the comfort provided by Christ's sufferings and His love. His countenance reflects mercy and peace, demonstrating that through Him, they can endure afflictions and find hope amidst their pain. The assurance of His presence provides believers with the strength to persevere, knowing He is ever with them.
