How do we know Christ is the Messiah?

Answered in 9 sources

Christ is identified as the Messiah because He fulfills the prophecies of the Old Testament and is God's anointed one who accomplishes salvation.

The understanding of Jesus as the Messiah is deeply rooted in the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies. Throughout the Scriptures, God promised the coming of His anointed one who would save His people. In John 1:40-42, Andrew identifies Jesus to Peter as 'the Messiah' or 'the Christ,' affirming this belief of His identity. Prophecy, such as that found in Daniel, foretold the work and purpose of the Messiah. Moreover, Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection serve as the ultimate realization of these predictions, establishing Him not only as the Messiah in name but also in action and fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan.
