How do we know Christ is truly God?

Answered in 5 sources

Christ is God because He existed before His human birth and is affirmed as the Son of God throughout Scripture (John 1:1, Micah 5:2).

The identity of Jesus Christ as God is vital to Christian faith, as articulated in the sermon. John 1:1 states, 'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.' This directly affirms Christ's divine nature and pre-existence. Additionally, the sermon references Micah 5:2, which declares that the Messiah's origins are 'from of old, from everlasting,' affirming that Christ was not merely a created being but is eternal. Moreover, throughout the New Testament, Jesus is referred to as the Son of God, which demonstrates His equality with the Father and His divine authority.
