How do we know Christ's merit affects our prayers?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's merit purifies and enhances our prayers, making them acceptable to God.

Our prayers, by themselves, are often flawed due to our sinful nature. However, Christ intercedes for us, taking our weak and imperfect prayers and presenting them to God in their perfected form. Just as a child's bouquet may contain weeds, our prayers may be cluttered with imperfection, but through Christ's intercession, they receive a divine fragrance. This means that when we pray, it is not our righteousness that is appealing to God, but the righteousness of Christ that beautifies our requests and makes them pleasing to Him.
