How do we know Christ's message is for us?

Answered in 1 source

God's message is for us if we recognize our sin and fear standing before Him without Christ.

To understand that Christ's message is for us, we must first acknowledge our state as sinners in need of salvation. If the thought of standing before God's judgment throne outside of Christ’s redemptive work frightens us, then that message is indeed for us. God's Word assures us that He has come to save those who feel their need for Him; it is for every ruined sinner who sees Christ as their only hope for salvation. As seen in Isaiah 35:3, the message 'Be not afraid, only believe' is a reassurance specifically directed to those with a fearful heart.
