How do we know Christ's priesthood is better than the old covenant priests?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's priesthood is superior because He is a High Priest of the new covenant, having offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice, which the Levitical priests could not do (Hebrews 9:11-12).

The author of Hebrews emphasizes the superiority of Christ's priesthood over the Levitical priesthood by illustrating that Christ serves as High Priest in a greater and more perfect tabernacle, that is, His own body, untainted by sin and divinely appointed by God (Hebrews 9:11). Unlike the high priests of the old covenant, who made sacrifices repeatedly, Christ entered once into the holy place with His own blood, achieving what those sacrifices could never secure – eternal redemption (Hebrews 9:12). This distinction is essential for believers, as it assures them that they can approach God confidently, knowing their sins are truly atoned for.
