How do we know Christ’s righteousness is essential for salvation?

Answered in 2 sources

Christ's righteousness is essential as we cannot achieve righteousness on our own; it must be imputed to us through faith in Him.

According to the faithful teachings derived from Scripture, especially seen in 2 Corinthians 5:21, Christ was made sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. Our salvation hinges on the perfect righteousness of Christ because Scripture clearly states that there is none righteous, no not one (Romans 3:10). Thus, it is through faith in Christ and His completed work that any sinner can stand justified before God, having been clothed in His righteousness.
