How do we know Christ's sacrifice guarantees eternal salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's sacrifice guarantees eternal salvation because He declared it finished and secures the redemption of His elect.

The assurance of eternal salvation through Christ's sacrifice is rooted in the nature of His death. When Jesus declared 'It is finished' (John 19:30), He affirmed that the work necessary for salvation was completely accomplished. According to the sovereign grace theology, Christ’s death was not a potential sacrifice for all but a definitive atonement for His chosen people. In John 6:39, Christ speaks of losing none of those entrusted to Him, which emphasizes the security of the believer in Christ's redemptive work. Therefore, those for whom Christ died are eternally secured and cannot be lost, reaffirming the promise of salvation through Him.
