How do we know Christ's sacrifice is superior to Old Testament sacrifices?

Answered in 1 source

Christ’s sacrifice is superior because it provides a permanent atonement for sin, unlike the temporary, repetitive sacrifices of the Old Testament.

In Hebrews, the author contrasts the continual offerings of the Old Testament priests with the singular sacrifice of Christ. Old Testament sacrifices could never perfect the worshipers or truly remove sin; they merely served as types pointing to Christ. In contrast, Jesus, through His eternal spirit, offered Himself without spot to God. His sacrifice satisfies divine justice and accomplishes what the blood of animals could never achieve. Thus, His sacrifice is not only sufficient but also definitive and complete, fulfilling the requirements for eternal redemption.
