How do we know Christ's sufferings were necessary for salvation?

Answered in 2 sources

Scripture clearly teaches that Christ's suffering was essential to fulfill the covenant of redemption and to atone for sin.

Christ's sufferings are shown to be an integral part of the redemptive plan laid out in Scripture, where He took on human nature to suffer for our sins as indicated in Isaiah 53:10. The apostle Paul emphasizes in Galatians 3:13 that Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. His engagement in suffering not only filled the required sacrifice for our transgressions but was also the culmination of the covenant plan established by the Triune God from eternity. Thus, His suffering serves as the necessary means to reconcile us to the Father, drawing from the depths of His affliction to provide salvation.
