How do we know Christ's work is effective for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Christ’s work is effective for salvation because He raises the spiritually dead to life, fulfilling God’s eternal purpose (John 11:26).

The effectiveness of Christ's work for salvation is demonstrated through the Gospel narrative and the assurance found in scripture. In John 11:26, Jesus states, 'Whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die.' This profound assurance is grounded in the nature of Christ's redemptive work, where He not only addresses physical death but addresses the spiritual condition of humanity—being dead in transgressions and sins (Ephesians 2:1).

The promise of salvation is clear: it is through faith in Christ’s finished work, where He fully satisfies the demands of the law and the penalty for sin, that one is raised to spiritual life. When God calls someone to salvation, He grants them faith to believe. This indicates that the efficacy of Christ’s work does not depend on human effort but solely on divine initiative, thus ensuring that all whom God has chosen will indeed come to Christ, be raised, and enjoy eternal life.
