How do we know eternal life is found in Christ?

Answered in 5 sources

Eternal life is found in Christ through a personal relationship and union with Him, not merely through knowledge of doctrine.

Eternal life is not solely dependent on intellectual assent to theological truths but on receiving Christ into one's life. In John 6, Jesus speaks of the necessity of 'eating His flesh and drinking His blood' as a metaphor for fully embracing Him as our source of life. This speaks to a profound relationship where Christ becomes integral to our very being, much like food sustains our physical life. The Spirit of God is the one who cultivates this life-giving relationship, providing both the need for Christ and the understanding that Christ fulfills that need. Therefore, true eternal life is established through a living union with Him, as articulated in John 17:3, where knowing the Father and Jesus Christ is defined as eternal life.
