How do we know faith in Christ is essential?

Answered in 4 sources

Faith in Christ is essential as it alone grants us the assurance of salvation, rooted in the promises of God's Word.

Faith is the means by which we hold onto the hope of salvation, as portrayed in Romans 10:17, which states that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. The woman who anointed Jesus acted on her faith, believing in His words regarding His coming sacrifice. Faith stands not in feelings but in the truth of Scripture; as affirmed by 1 John 5:7-12, our confidence is grounded in the testimonies of God's Word about His Son. Thus, a true faith recognizes Christ as our Substitute and responds in love and obedience.
