How do we know faith is important in Christianity?

Faith serves as the fundamental ground upon which all Christian beliefs are established. In Hebrews 11:1, it describes faith as 'the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.' This indicates that belief precedes understanding and perception of God's promises. In times of trial, it is faith that sustains believers, allowing them to accept the unseen truths of God's Word and the work of redemption through Christ. Without faith, one cannot perceive the depth of God's grace and the reality of His work in their lives.
