How do we know faith is necessary to be a child of God?

Answered in 1 source

Faith is necessary because scriptures clearly state that belief in Christ is the only requirement for being a child of God.

In Romans 4, Abraham's faith is highlighted as the means by which he was justified before God. The narrative demonstrates that it was not by works or following the law that he became righteous, but rather by believing God (Romans 4:3). This principle is universal; all who believe in Jesus Christ are granted a status as children of God because they are counted righteous through their faith. Thus, faith is the cornerstone upon which our relationship with God is established, as outlined throughout scripture.
