How do we know faith is precious?

Answered in 1 source

Faith is precious because it is a gift from God that connects believers to Christ, ensuring their salvation.

In 2 Peter 1:1, Peter speaks of 'like precious faith' which is obtained through the righteousness of God. This indicates that faith is not simply a human decision but a divine gift bestowed upon believers. The preciousness of faith lies in its strong connection to its object—Jesus Christ. It's through faith that believers are justified and are assured of their salvation, as expressed in Luke 7 where Jesus acknowledges the woman's faith as that which saved her. Faith pleases God and is essential for a believer's life, confirming that it is not the strength of one's faith that matters, but the object of that faith, who is Christ.
