How do we know faith leads to righteousness?

Answered in 1 source

Faith is counted as righteousness when it rests upon God's promise and reveals the believer's trust in Him.

The Scriptures teach that faith in God, specifically faith that believes God's promises, is what God counts as righteousness. In Romans 4, Paul uses Abraham as an example, stating that Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. This indicates that it's not merely faith itself that saves, but the object of that faith—namely, God's grace and His promises. Believers are justified by faith because their faith connects them to the righteousness of Christ, which is imputed to them, showcasing God's grace in declaring the ungodly as righteous.
