How do we know faith like a child's is essential for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Faith like a child's is essential for salvation as it embodies total dependence and trust in God (Matthew 18:4).

Faith resembling that of a child is incredibly significant as it reflects total dependence on God. Jesus pointed out in Matthew 18:4, 'Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.' This teaches us that humility and a lack of self-sufficiency are vital to enter God's kingdom. Unlike adults who may strive for status and recognition, children do not concern themselves with such ambitions; instead, they trust their parents wholly. This shows that true faith is not only recognizing our need for salvation but also surrendering pride and self-reliance, relying wholly on God's grace and mercy.
