How do we know forgiveness is guaranteed in Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Forgiveness is guaranteed in Christ because He is our advocate and has already paid the penalty for our sins through His sacrifice.

The assurance of forgiveness is rooted in the work of Jesus Christ, our advocate before the Father. As noted in 1 John 2:1-2, 'If anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He is the propitiation for our sins.' This means that Jesus has taken upon Himself the punishment for our sins, allowing God to forgive us in a manner that is both just and righteous. Thus, when we confess our sins, we can trust that God will forgive us not only because of His grace but also due to Christ’s righteousness and the sufficiency of His sacrifice.
