How do we know God calls us His children?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible assures us of our identity as God's children through the love bestowed upon us by the Father.

In 1 John 3, we are called beloved children of God, and this identity is a direct result of God's love and grace towards us. The assurance of our sonship does not depend on our performance but on the unchanging love of God, who chose us before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4-5). This relationship is solidified through Christ's redemptive work, where the promise of being called 'children of God' is fulfilled. Thus, our confidence does not rest in our merit but in the grace of God that secures our identity and relationship with Him.
